PRISM-West Midlands

PRISM (Policy Responsive Integrated Strategy Model) has been developed as a strategic model for the West Midlands, supported by the 7 district authorities, Highways England and Transport for West Midlands (TfWM).

PRISM has been instrumental in enabling its owners, the West Midlands Local Authorities, Highways England and TfWM, to draw funding down to support schemes such as the A45 bridge strengthening, the Birmingham Box Managed Motorway Programme, the Burnt Tree Island improvements, A453 Chester Road Improvements etc. Read more...

PRISM 4.8 Ongoing:

Following the release of NTEM 7.2 data (fixing a number of issues in NTEM 7.0), the PRISM model will be updated to incorporate these changes. All other aspects of the PRISM system will remain unchanged.

PRISM 4.7 Complete:

PRISM has recently undergone an update. This update incorporates NTEM 7.0 and the November 2016 WebTAG databook values for VOT/VOC. Convergence was also looked at, and so some highway network changes have been adopted. Base year matrices have been tested for validation (but not re-calibrated), and pass rates are sufficiently similar to PRISM 4.5.

This new update will allow for better converged results from PRISM with more reasonable run-times, which will benefit future applications within the West Midlands.
