Current Projects :

Birchley Island: Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) wants to investigate the benefits of options for the development of a Major Scheme Business Case (MSBC) for the Birchley Island Junction adjacent to M5 Junction 2. A detailed local cordon model is required to be used as the basis of an economic appraisal using TUBA (and potentially another tool for assessing localised wider impacts) to assess the transport user benefits. The cordon model and future year growth is to be derived using the new PRISM model.

Birmingham Development Plan: Birmingham City Council has commissioned Mott MacDonald to develop the Transport Evidence Base to support the emerging Birmingham Development Plan.  This methodology is primarily about comparing a future Development Plan scenario with the hypothetical Reference Case scenario that would exist were the Plan not implemented.  Such comparison allows the impacts of the Plan to be identified so that appropriate mitigation can be proposed.

Coventry Local Plan: Coventry City Council (CCC) has commissioned Mott MacDonald undertake a series of “high level” strategic modelling tasks using PRISM to assist in the development of their Local Plan. The objective of the study is to identify the likely implications of the proposed levels of population and jobs growth on Coventry’s Transport Networks.

GBS LEP LGFB: Mott MacDonald has been commissioned by Birmingham City Council to provide outputs from PRISM for the 2011 base year to be used as inputs to an economic model developed by KPMG as part of the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Transport Board Local Growth Fund (GBS LTB LGF) bid.

Hagley Road: Centro has commissioned Mott MacDonald to provide an assessment of the potential impacts of proposed bus priority measures in the Hagley Road corridor using PRISM. The scope of work includes highway model runs for the AM and PM peaks (as modelled currently in PRISM), cordon model development, traffic flow analysis and potentially providing outputs for an economic appraisal of options in TUBA.

i54: Using PRISM to define a local cordon area to be modelled in greater detail to then be calibrated and validated and used as the basis of future year highway and public transport option testing associated with the i54 development site.

M6 Junction 10: Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council (WMBC) is developing a Major Scheme Business Case for M6 Junction 10 (J10). The proposed scheme is to improve J10 including an increase in capacity of the circulatory movement that will require two new bridges, and also to improve the Black Country Route and the Bloxwich Lane junction adjacent to J10.
PRISM has been identified as the appropriate tool to estimate the travel impacts with and without investment and will work alongside a VISSIM model of the area being developed by WMBC.
This work also involves the innovative development of an interface between a local Vissim model and the cordoned Visum model, which will form the basis of a paper.

Midland Metro: Centro has commissioned Mott MacDonald to utilise PRISM to model the extension of Midland Metro Line 1 from New Street to Centenary Square including associated complimentary measures. PRISM will then feed these forecast matrices into a local model of the surrounding area.

Tame Valley Viaduct (A38(M)): PRISM model runs have been commissioned by Birmingham City Council to support the economic appraisal as part of a Major Scheme Business Case for the Tame Valley Viaduct maintenance bid.
